American Solar Challenge 2010 has started!

American Solar ChallengeThe American Solar Challenge has started with 12 teams driving out of the Broken Arrow, OKasc2010_day-1_neosho Bass Pro at noon today.   Michigan was the first to arrive in Neosho, Mo at the Crowder College checkpoint.    Ten teams made it to the check point while it was open until 5pm.  The Crowder College check point included Star II, on of the first solar vehicles, on display.   After completing the checkpoint teams headed out on their way to Topeka for the first stage stop in the event.

Stage/Checkpoint Published Times

A detailed summary is provided showing the opening and closing times for each city on the route (race start, checkpoint, stage, and race finish).  Pay close attention to the times so you know when start times are and the duration of each of the checkpoints (note one checkpoint is 2 hours others are only 1 hour).

Neosho Checkpoint

On Sunday, June 20, teams will arrive at the Neosho, MO checkpoint on the grounds of Crowder College.  This will be the same location that was used during the North American Solar Challenge 2008.  Current plans are to have a variety of memorabilia from previous solar car races on hand.  Crowder College is also home to several solar houses, a wind mill, and the MARET center.
