2005 North American Solar Challenge
Scrutineering and Qualifying
NASC2005 has a Preliminary Scrutineering and Qualifying Session in May and a Final Scrutineering and Qualifying Session in July. These events are also Formula Sun Grand Prix events. Some of the information below is posted on the FSGP website.
Preliminary Scrutineering and Qualifying
May 15-20, 2005 in Topeka, Kansas.
Attendance Requirement: All North American based teams (Canada, USA, Mexico) are required to attend Preliminary Scrutineering. It is in your team's interest to bring as complete a vehicle as possible. Preliminary Scrutineering is an important opportunity to catch problems while there is still time for repairs and refinement.
At minimum, each team must send two team members with documents and photos for Mechanical, Electrical, Body/Sizing Stations. If this is not met, there will be a 110 minute rayce time penalty.
If you are not attempting to qualify, you may miss the first day of Scrutineering (May 16), but you have to be there by the morning of May 17th. However, we strongly suggest that you be there for the first day because that is when we will explain how the stations work. Scrutineering for teams that are not attempting to qualify will continue on May 18.
Final Scrutineering and Qualifying
July 10-15, 2005 in Austin and College Station, Texas.
Attendance Requirement: All teams are required to pass Final Scrutineering. This includes team that passed Preliminary Scrutineering. We strongly encourage teams to arrive on time and to be prepared. There is a limited time to complete scrutineering.
All teams that did not qualify at the Preliminary Qualifier are required to qualify at the Final Qualifier.
Teams that qualified at the Preliminary Qualifier typically do not have to requalify at Final Qualifier. However, inspectors may require teams to complete a few laps (or requalify) based on modifications/changes to the vehicle since the Preliminary Qualifier.
